Endless Nightmare (or NEEDY GIRL OVERDOSE: Endless Nightmare) is a platformer game that is part of NEEDY STREAMER OVERLOAD: Typing of The Net.

This game is unlocked by initially being in the typing segment of the game, then typing on the search bar endless nightmare, then clicking on the thumbnail of the video titled "NEEDY GIRL OVERDOSE ENDLESS NIGHTMARE". Doing so will also unlock the "SEARCH" achievement.

Premise

Icon status yami.png SPOILER WARNING

This article or section contains spoilers of NEEDY STREAMER OVERLOAD.

The premise of this game seems to revolve around Ame-chan's nightmare, where she fights enemies throughout multiple stages with increasingly destroyed environments, where eventually, she meets up with Dark Angel, who would be considered as Ame's worst enemy in this game.

Ending

As Ame grabs KAngel's collectibles in Stage 5, she transforms into KAngel and has become destined to fight Dark Angel. After her defeat, Ame wakes up in her bed from her nightmare, looks to her monitor in shock, and sees a glitching Dark Angel, then the "END" sign is shown on the monitor.

Gameplay

This is a 2D action platformer game, where the player controls Ame-chan, and the objective is to complete all 6 stages, by exploring them, grabbing collectibles (where available), defeating enemies, and defeating the boss (where available).

Stages

Main article: Stages

Each stage is divided into multiple segments, which are accessed through a portal. Furthermore, aside from the tutorial stage, each stage features a boss, with Dark Angel being the boss of stages 4 and 5. Stages 1 to 4 feature a collectible each, which will then be used for stage 5.

Weapons

Main article: Weapons

Ame wields two weapons: a chainsaw and a knife. The chainsaw is used for melee attacks and charging (for wall climbing and speeding after charging then crouching), while the knife is used for ranged attacks. Both of these weapons can also be used for destroying vines/leaves.

Health and stamina

On the bottom of the screen, there are a couple of features: Ame's HP and her stamina.

Ame starts with 8 HP. She loses a single HP after getting hit by an enemy or a boss.

  • When Ame hits 2 HP, the screen will indicate low health through red gradients on the screen.
  • If Ame dies, regardless of where she dies in a particular stage, she will go back to the beginning of that stage.
    • However, if she dies during the boss battles in stages 1, 2, or 3, she will just end up to the segment before the boss battle.

Ame also has stamina, which is divided into three levels.

  • Stamina gets increasingly filled up after Ame defeats enemies, damages bosses, or collects lightning bolts throughout a stage.
  • Just like health, stamina is depleted if Ame gets damaged by enemies or bosses.
  • Using the knife or doing consecutive chainsaw attacks will slightly deplete stamina.
  • Having stamina levels being filled up will multiply the damage of chainsaw and knife attacks, depending on how many levels are obtained.
  • If the player has one stamina level filled up, the player can press E to recover up to 4 hearts.

Trivia

  • The pien cat serves as the character who guides Ame-chan during the tutorial by telling her what are the different controls in the game.
    • It appears in stages 0 and 2.
  • The stage music, TenArrange_Stage, uses the same leitmotif as INTERNET OVERDOSE, while the boss music, TenArrange_Boss, uses the same leitmotif as INTERNET YAMERO.
  • This game can also be accessed by browsing through the local files of NEEDY STREAMER OVERLOAD: Typing of The Net, then by clicking through the NGOD_2DACT folder, then clicking the NGOD_2DACT.exe file.
  • Even though the typing segment of Typing of the Net was made in Unity, Endless Nightmare was made using GameMaker. This is possible because of the fact that the two are technically separate games, packaged under one game.
  • Stage 0 has no music played. Stage music starts to play at Stage 1.
    • The last segment of stages 1, 2, 3, and 4, before the boss battle, do not play any music.
  • This game, by itself, has no achievements. All of the game's achievements are attributed to Typing of The Net.
  • There are a couple of typos in this game:
    • In the main menu, if a new player who hasn't started the game yet navigated to the "Resume" button, on the right, it will say "No Deta".
    • In the game's settings, the bottom-most option (for the current input device) says "Keybord".
