Flatline
Flatline is an ending in NEEDY STREAMER OVERLOAD, represented by the 16th ending slot in the Main Menu and GAME OVER screens. An achievement of the same name is unlocked upon experiencing the ending.
Requirement
To achieve this ending, the player must "ignore" Ame-chan's direct messages on JINE for a total of five times. For the ignoring mechanic to successfully take place, the player must achieve two conditions:
- Ame's JINE tab has not been put into focus during a state in which all of her messages have been sent.
- The player has performed an action which has progressed the current day.
Once both conditions have been met on five separate occasions, the ending will take place.
Misconceptions
Players are prone to obtaining this ending by accident due to common mistakes made with regard to reading Ame's JINE messages. Often, a player may see Ame's JINE messages during Noon, reading them as intended. However, after reading her initial JINE mesages and closing the JINE tab, the player may not be aware that Ame will continue to send JINE messages whenever the day progresses into Dusk and Night. Remaining unaware, players fail to check these new messages and progress into the next stage of the day, which triggers an instance of ignoring Ame. This process usually repeats until players unintentionally obtain the Flatline ending, having no knowledge of how they have done so.
To avoid this mistake, players should keep checking for notifications if the day ever progresses. A useful tip is to repeatedly click on the screen while the JINE tab is open, which will make Ame immediately send her messages one by one for each click, until no more messages remain. Another popular misconception is that the player must leave a response to avoid ignoring Ame; this is false. In situations where the JINE tab is prompting the player to select a dialogue option, the player is not required to select a response. If the player chooses to close the JINE tab without selecting a response, and progresses the day, the game will not trigger an instance of Ame being ignored. The game will also never require sticker replies. This renders all form of responses optional and inconsequential with regards to this ending.
