Official synopsis on Steam[1]
Gameplay
Typing of the Net
The player takes on the role of a commenter on KAngel's streams, where they are tasked to correctly type internet slang words in a limited time frame, such as "waifu", "doxxing", "clout", etc. Doing so will increase the player's score. The faster a player types, the higher their score for each word is, with the maximum score being 100 for most words and 200 for some other words (particularly longer ones). If the player types quite slow, but just barely enough to be validated, the minimum score they would get is around 50. Each level lasts for 3 minutes, and the timer progress is indicated through the video progress bar.
The player starts with 3 lives (although, this can be changed in the game's settings). If the player doesn't write the word or phrase fully and correctly in enough time, a heart will be lost. If they lose all their hearts, it will be game over.
Note: when the player has to type in a phrase that has spaces, such as "She like me fr", and/or words and phrases with punctuation marks, the spaces and punctuation marks are omitted. For example, the player would have to type that phrase as shelikemefr
to proceed.
There are three difficulty levels present in this game:
Level # | Title | Duration | Unlocking |
---|---|---|---|
Level 1 | (Swipe Keyboard FTW) Super Epic Typing Battle with KAngel (PC Supremacy Over) | 3:00 | Start of the game |
Level 2 | (Smash That Keyboard) GOAT Typing Battle with KAngel (And Those Haters!) | 3:00 | Completing level 1 |
Level 3 | THE TYPING OF THE INTERDEAD | 3:00 | Completing level 2 |
Furthermore, the following is a table of scores needed to achieve a particular rank:
Rank | Minimum score |
---|---|
C | 3000 |
B | 3250 |
A | 3500 |
S | 3750 |
Endless Nightmare
- Main article: Endless Nightmare
Endless Nightmare is the platformer segment of the game, which is unlocked by typing endless nightmare
in the search bar and then clicking on the thumbnail of the video titled "NEEDY GIRL OVERDOSE ENDLESS NIGHTMARE". Normally, the existence of this platformer is hinted through the game's credits, which are accessed after playing the third level of Typing of the Net, though in reality, the player can search for this game and type endless nightmare
at any point in the game. Alternatively, the player could browse through the local files of TOTN, then dig through the Endless Nightmare folder, and play the game from there.
Achievements
- Main article: Achievements (TOTN)
There are 7 achievements that the player can obtain. Most of them are obtained solely by playing the different levels in the typing game, and among those achievements, they are attained by reaching S rank.
Release
This game was first revealed on 7 December 2024, with the release of the game's announcement trailer. It was also featured at the INDIE Live Expo on the same day.

In February 2025, nyalra mentions that they want to continue updating the game.[2]
In April 2025, it has been reported that this game is now under new management.[3]
List of words
- Main article: List of words (TOTN)
There are 200 different words available in the game, all of which are internet slang. Once the player types out a particular internet slang, they will be awarded with the score and KAngel will give out the word's definition in a dialog, found near the top right corner of the game.
Settings
- Main article: Settings (TOTN)
The game's settings can be accessed from the game's main menu by clicking "Settings". There, the player can change a few options, including audio volume, number of lives, resolution, and language.
Trivia
- Each of the levels in the game features 3 different periods of the day on the game's borders: level 1 is noon, level 2 is dusk, and level 3 is night.
- The "Typing on the Net" logo is stylistically based on the YouTube logo, except with the wording and the fact that the triangle is replaced with a white KAngel bowtie.
- KAngel's art style is based on the one seen in Don't Die, Kangel!, one of the minigames from Petit Game Collection vol.1.
- When the player scrolls to the bottom of the screen, there is a group of 6 KAngels that would appear at the bottom of the settings screen. Those KAngels would fly away from the screen a few seconds later.
- The vast majority of the UI options in the game do not actually function. However, there are some exceptions:
- Clicking on the videos will lead to their respective levels and clicking on the settings will lead to the settings.
- The search bar allows the player to type anything, but it will only function once the player types specifically
endless nightmare
. - If the player is in the search menu (after having typed "endless nightmare") and then clicked on the "Typing on the Net" logo, they will be lead back to the main menu of the game.
- Clicking on the logo while being currently in the main menu will do a "refresh" function.
- The player can also click "Subscribe" and unsubscribe in the main menu only, although this likely serves no actual purpose.
- This is the first spin-off game to feature achievements. Petit Game Collection vol.1 has no achievements.
